Question 3. Correct! Many tools were made from bone, such as this bone awl. Awls were used to punch holes and were particularly useful when working with animal hides used for making clothing and shelters. This particular awl was found at Moundville. Awls have been recovered from Paleoindian contexts all the way to modern contexts. Photograph provided courtesy of the Office of Archaeological Research, University of Alabama Museums. |
