ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance in this class is very important because the class depends on the active and responsible participation of each class member. Therefore, ALL absences from class will be recorded.

Students unable to attend a minimum of three-fourths of all class sessions will receive automatically a failing grade for the course.

Only unavoidable absences that interfere directly with a student's ability to submit assignments by their due dates should be discussed with the instructor.

Whenever possible, notify the instructor personally; otherwise, leave a written message at the instructor's office (208 Phifer) or in the departmental office (203 Phifer).

For extending the due date on the essay, a student must notify the instructor no later than the due date.

For securing authorization for a make-up performance for a grade, a student must notify the instructor on or before the due date.

Official documentation of excused absences must be provided. If provided, a student will be permitted to submit out-of class assignments for credit. However, because in-class exercises involve class participation and often critiques of other students' performances, such work cannot be made up.

Students are expected to assume responsibility for their absences from class.

After returning to class, a student who has been absent must assume the responsibility of finding out what material was presented in class during the absence.

Any in-class assignments which occurred during students' absences CANNOT be made up

To pass the course, students must complete all assigned performances. However, if these are late and unexcused, they will receive no credit.
