Today's heavily mediated society has come to recognize that the interests and concerns of the audience shape public communication. This course will emphasize how to develop critical skills for engaging in public discourse — whether spoken, printed, or mediated — while cultivating civic responsibility and encouraging community-building goals. It will include speaking, writing, and computer performance components.
