Students who
do not attend the first two meetings of a Tuesday-Thursday course or
the first three meetings of a Monday-Wednesday-Friday course will be
administratively disenrolled. This is a College policy. For summer school,
it translates as the first regularly scheduled meeting.
Students
are expected to attend every class period and contribute actively
to the class; all absences from class will be recorded.
- The accumulation
of more than 4 absences during the term will result in failure of
the course.
- Only unavoidable
absences that interfere directly with a student's ability to submit
assignments by their due dates should be discussed with the instructor.
--Whenever possible, notify the instructor personally of an unavoidable
absence from class, by phone or WebCT e-mail.
--For extending the due date on written assignments, a student must
notify the instructor no later than the due date.
--For being authorized to given an oral report at a make-up time for
credit, a student must notify the instructor on or before the due
date.
- Students
must assume the responsibility for their absences from class. FAILURE
TO ASSUME THIS RESPONSIBILITY MAY RESULT IN BEING DENIED THE PRIVILEGE
OF MAKING UP MISSED WORK.
--All excuses absences (legitimate medical emergencies or prior class
conflicts, discussed with instructor) must have supporting documents.
--Upon returning to class, a student who has been absent should find
out what material was presented in class during the absence.
--Unexcused late assignments must be submitted to the instructor,
but they will receive no credit.
