REQUIREMENTS

This course carries a W designation for the University Core Curriculum. Accordingly, WRITING PROFICIENCY IS A NECESSARY REQUIREMENT FOR PASSING THIS COURSE. On-line class exercises and quizzes will be used to evaluate students' writing skills, as well as formal paper assignments.

To demonstrate writing proficiency, students will be expected to meet normal academic standards in their written assignments for this course. Normal academic standards include spelling/typing accuracy, grammatical correctness, compositional proficiency, and proper documentation of all sources. Specific requirements for written assignments will be identified in each assignment, but students are expected to apply normal academic standards to all their written work for this course.

In addition, each student is expected to fulfill the following:

 Read and be prepared to discuss the assigned reading.

 Complete class exercises in WebCT as assigned.

 Present two oral reports by the due dates as assigned.

 Participate in one group presentation by the due date as assigned.

 Submit two critical analyses, by the due dates as assigned, in the student presentation module in WebCT. In each, you are limited to 1500 words.

 Attend at least 3/4 of all class periods, i.e., be absent no more than a total of 4 times for the term.

 Complete WebCT quizzes over course material.
