 |
Course
Objectives
The
main objective of this course is to examine the development of rhetorical
theory and practice in the Middle Ages and Early Renaissance (c. 400-1600)
and to gain an understanding of how that development was related to
the arts of grammar, logic, and poetic, as well as to the religious
and cultural context out of which it arose. A secondary objective is
to stimulate critical thought and research in this period of development
in the history of rhetoric.
