Locations
• Science and Engineering Library.....2nd floor of Rodgers Library, book section
• Science and Engineering Library Reference.....Reference Section, on the first floor of Rodgers LIbrary
• Other locations: The catalog may also list book in other libraries on campus. For example, the Advanced Search results from the above search list many books in the Business Library.HANDBOOKS AND ELECTRONIC BOOKS
The first two electronic sources listed in this section are collections of electronic handbooks, primary in areas of engineering. One can use these databases to search within the virtual pages of these electronic books. These databases may be a little advanced for freshmen, but if you are interested give them a try.
Database: ENGnetBASE (CRC engineering handbooks online)
This electronic database of over 200 CRC books and handbooks allows simultaneous searching of titles which contain engineering information, including data, facts, figures, graphs, equations, illustrations, and charts.
1999-current. Access: UA, Remote
Database: Knovel
This electronic database allows simultaneous searching of books and handbooks which contain engineering information, including data, facts, figures, graphs, equations, illustrations, and charts. Handbooks are 1990-current. Access: UA, RemoteNetLibrary
UA purchases selected electronic titles from netLibrary. In your search of the online catalog, you may obtain a record for an electronic book from netLibrary. The netLibrary titles to which UA has access are listed in the library online catalog, with links. For off campus access to UA e-book titles from netLibrary, create a personal netLibrary account while on campus or while logged into your myBama account. Access: UA, RemoteNeed journal articles, technical reports or conference papers? Search these databases and print indexes for citations and/or full text.
Some of the databases will contain full text articles and reports. Some will have links to full text articles and reports. For many databases, the Libraries has configured a button labeled Article Linker to help you determine if the Libraries has access to a given article or journal title. You may also search the online catalog by journal title to determine whether the Libraries have the journal volume in which a needed article is located.

Abstracts are available for most indexed journal articles. 1985-current. Access: UA, Remote
ScienceDirect (Elsevier)
Full text of most journals from 1995-present, from Elsevier and related publishers. UA's subscription includes full text of selected journals for older years. Database includes abstracts only for most additional years of journals. Some titles and abstracts are available as far back as 1822. Access: UA, RemoteDatabase: Applied Science & Technology Index
Indexes over 700 English language journals in engineering and the applied sciences. Selected journals available full text. 1983-current. Access: UA, RemoteDatabase: Google Scholar
To search the UA Libraries' version of Google Scholar, which is partially configured to help you tell if UA Libraries has the particular article or resource, search from the library's web page or the link above. Google Scholar is a freely available scholarly search engine that allows you to search across many disciplines and sources.
Access: UA, RemoteIf you are looking for applications of calculus in a given field, you might want to search a database that covers journals from that field.
