Chinese language class at The University of Alabama is very popular! The Modern Languages and Classics Department offers beginning through advanced levels of Chinese language study, and classes in Chinese culture according to interest.

The minor in Chinese language consists of 20 hours including CHI 101, CHI 102, CHI 201, CHI 202, and either CHI 301 and CHI 302, or CHI 401 and CHI 402. A minimum of 6 hours at the 300 or 400 level must be earned on this campus.

Chinese class

Through Capstone International, the Chinese program facilitates overseas study in mainland China and Taiwan. The program is called Alabama in China. Dr. Chad Hilton, Associate Professor of Management and Director of International Business Programs, leads the Study Abroad tour along with Chinese scholars. The University's Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library was selected in 2004 by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China to receive a generous donation of 1,000 volumes in Chinese including dictionaries, reference works, classical texts, modern literature, videos, and language learning materials.
