The Minor:

The minor in world literature (WL) is open only to students who have completed two years of college-level coursework in a foreign language. All programs of study for the minor must be approved by the director of the World Literature Program.

Requirements:
The world literature minor requires 18-20 hours, including the second-year foreign language courses and 12 hours of literature courses. Six of the required 12 hours must be associated with the foreign language the student has taken, either in the original text or in translation. A minimum of 6 hours at the 300 or 400 level must be earned on this campus. Courses taken to fulfill requirements of the student's major or of another minor cannot be applied to the minor in world literature.

Nineteenth-Century Russian Literature in Translation (same as RUS 223): Three hours.

Twentieth-Century Russian Literature in Translation (same as RUS 224): Three hours.

Germanic Mythology (same as GN 250): Two hours.

Major World Authors I (same as EH 331): Three hours. Selections in translation from Greek, roman, and Hebrew classics and other literature.

Major World Authors II (same as EH 332): Three hours. Selections in translation of major writers from a variety of countries and literary traditions.

English Bible as Literature (same as EH363 and REL311): Three hours.

Special Topics: Three hours.

Literary Criticism (same as EH 435): Three hours. Prerequisites: 15 hours in English courses, including EH 101 and EH 102 (or 103), and EH 205 or EH 206.

Modern Criticism (same as EH 436): Three hours. Prerequisites: 15 hours in English, including EH 101 and EH 102 (or 1030, and EH 205 or EH 206.
