Gathering of the Environmentally Aware

The University of Alabama Environmental Council (UAEC) is a student

organization that strives to unite other groups interested in appreciation

of the natural world, ecological sustainability, and resource conservation.

The UAEC seeks ways to inform others about environmental issues. The group shows

movies and distributes reading material to encourage students to take interest in topics that

affect the health of the planet. In the past, the UAEC has sponsored glass recycling drives

and fundraisers that benefit local wildlife conservation groups. Each spring, the UAEC hosts

EarthFest, a community-oriented event intended to celebrate the world.

Other organizations are encouraged to be part of the UAEC.
