July Physics Update

From the

Alabama Section of AAPT

Summer time and hopefully everyone is living somewhat easy.  Getting ready for fall and new students is always on teachers’ minds.

The AAPT Summer meeting starts July 19th in Edmonton, Canada.  Stan Jones, our Section Representative and Chuck Hanke, our new President for ’08-’09, will both be there.  We will have a report from them in our next update.

The big project for fall is the Alabama Science Teachers Fall Conference September 30-October 1.  Our Alabama Section of AAPT will hold a “mini- meeting” on Tuesday and Wednesday both.  It is a two day conference for K-12 science teachers at the McWayne Center in Birmingham.  This will include many secondary teachers that we haven’t reached before.  Exactly what we will share has not been decided and we will gladly include any member that wants to help out.  We will have some door prizes and some other goodies from AAPT, but any other donations or suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.  Just contact Stan Jones, stjones@bama.ua.edu or Chuck Hanke, hankec@montevallo.edu or me, eholsenbeck@alasu.edu

Go to www.asta.auburn.edu and view information about the conference.  One of our own members, Stan Hart is the President-Elect.
