| Welcome to the University
of Alabama's Army ROTC Homepage. The Alabama Corps of
Cadets traces its lineage to August 1, 1860 when the
first uniforms graced the university's campus. Since
then, the Crimson Tide of the Army has molded and shaped
not only our nation's military but also the nation itself.
The University of Alabama's program has been responsible
for producing: more than 7,500 officers, 42 general
officers, 6 Governors of Alabama; hundreds of CEOs and
Presidents of major companies; and 25 judges. Among
the Crimson Tide of the Army's many distinguished alumni
are: Charles W. Davis, a Congressional Medal of Honor
recipient; John R. Vines, commander of the XVIIIth Airborne
Corps; John McKinley, former President of TEXACO;
Winston Groom, author of Gump and Co; which became the basis
for Forest Gump, and Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat
for Humanity.
