FINDING MR. OR MRS. RIGHT &
COURTSHIP LEADING TO MARRIAGE
IS TONIGHT’S FCA VIDEO PROGRAM BY TOMMY NELSON
Last week, Dr. James Dobson spelled out the dangers and risks of “safe sex dating.” Tonight, we turn to the other side as Tommy Nelson paints a wonderful picture of courtship that leads to marriage from a Biblical prospective.
Tommy Nelson is a former North Texas Univ. quarterback who pastors a large church in Denton, Tex. He has spoken to countless thousands of college students on “What God Has To Say About Love, Sex and Romance,” from the Song of Solomon.
Says Tommy, “A woman who feels that a man respects her automatically feels that a man is being more romantic toward her. Men, if you really want to win the affection of a woman you are dating, show her respect. Express to her how much you like being with her. That’s far more important than telling her how much you love her. Like is a critical prerequisite to love.
“Solomon was calling to the woman to be with him exclusively. He wanted to be alone with her, and in the ‘secret places’ he wanted to communicate with her, get to know her, and deepen a relationship with her. He was committed to discover all he could about her. Their courtship brought them to the point of knowing that they were fully meant for each other and that their mutual desire was to be husband and wife. I am a strong believer in long dating, long courtship, and a brief engagement before the wedding day.”
College students across the nation have benefited from Tommy’s talks of wisdom about dating and courtship. That’s tonight at 9 at the College Annex on Bryant Drive.
NOTE: The 8th annual Jay Barker
Golf Tournament was another huge success last Monday at the North River Yacht
Club. Much of the proceeds benefit the FCA.
