FCA KICKS OFF ITS 39TH YEAR
TONIGHT AT 9 O’CLOCK
FCA kicks off tonight at 9 o’clock at the College Annex Building, across the street from the Calvary Baptist Church on Paul Bryant Drive. It is one block from Bryant-Denny Stadium.
This year marks an incredible 39 years of ministry by FCA among athletes and coaches on our campus. The national FCA office recognizes our group as tops in the nation in longevity and consecutive years of service on the college level. The current FCA national magazine, Sharing The Victory, carries a lengthy story on our 38 years of ministry, which began in September, 1964.
We are blessed this year with the addition of All-Century Crimson Tide performer, Jeremiah Castille, who began his new role as campus FCA Director on August 1. Jeremiah has been assistant football coach and head track coach at Briarwood Christian High School in Birmingham for the past seven years. Jeremiah will serve as a mentor and counselor on a daily basis to our athletes, and will take an active part in our weekly Wednesday night meetings.
Tonight Jeremiah will share in our meeting and next week he will tell his unbelievable life story, which is most inspiring. All of you will want to get acquainted with Jeremiah and extend a personal welcome and greeting to him. Some of you have heard him speak and know of his dynamic Christian faith and witness.
Wayne Atcheson has been the FCA advisor since 1985 and will continue on in an advisory capacity. Many of our student/athletes will serve in leadership roles this year. We will talk more about that tonight and about some of our fall plans.
So start the school year off right by attending FCA tonight. Meet your friends and new ones at FCA, and enjoy the inspiration and fellowship tonight at 9.
SQUAD SUNDAY: Last Sunday, the football team and coaching staff attended the 39th Squad Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church. Congratulations to Joel Babb who received the Charlie Compton Award for outstanding Christian leadership by team vote.
