Multiheterometallic Transition Metal Complexes: A Challenge

The synthesis, reaction chemistry, structure and bonding of early-late hetero-di, -tri-, -tetra-, -penta- and even –hexa-nuclear transition
metal complexes by applying the molecular “Tinkertoy” approach will be presented. As connecting units between the different metal atoms,
pi-conjugated carbon-rich organic and/or inorganic bridging units can be used. The electrochemical behavior of such (one-dimensional) molecular wire molecules, coordination polymers, starlike structures, and dendritic oriented transition metal species, respectively, will be discussed as well. The synthesis and use of appropriate functionalized organometallic complexes for the preparation of self-assembled
monolayers will be reported, too.
