UA-HHMI Undergraduate Researcher Program:
During the summer portion of the research program, a series of activities enrich the research experience and encourage exploration of new areas of research, which students may not have considered.
A field trip to an aquatic ecosystem study site on the Cahaba River introduces field biological research and the importance of conservation efforts.
A visit to Hudson-Alpha Institute for Biotechnology, Huntsville, AL, demonstrates the interfaces among molecular biology, genetic, and genomic research and how discoveries may result in new ways to prevent or control diseases.
At the end of the summer research experience, new discoveries are shared through a poster session and symposium held at the Alabama Museum of Natural History.
