Applicants may direct questions to Maggie Lester at leste004@bama.ua.edu ___________________________________________ The Capstone Men and Women are chosen competitively each February. Members of the group must also try out every year. No particular male/female ratio is established for the group. Applications are available through officially recognized University student organizations, residence halls, Office of the Dean of Students, 284 Rose Administration, and this website. The Capstone Men and Women selection committee will talk with each applicant in two separate interviews, which are the most important part of the judging process. The following membership criteria are also included: - Cumulative GPA of 2.90 or higher - At least second semester Freshman standing - Full-time enrollment as an undergraduate student (No fifth year seniors or graduate/law students) - Involvement, but not over-committment , in campus activities - Ability to devote from five to ten hours or more each week to group duties while maintaining good grades; ability to participate regularly in Tuesday night meetings and weekend and evening events - Willingness to memorize a volume of material about the University and to keep up with current information about its growth and development - Ability to learn the official van/walking tour of the campus and to present it in a professional manner to prospective students, their parents, and other campus visitors - Excellent oral communication skills and poise in dealing with diverse groups of students
