submission guidelines
egotistics welcomes submissions from all graduate students, from any school.
1. We invite articles of 5,000 words or less, notes of 1,500 words or less, book reviews of 750 words or less.
2. Submission is blind. Send three paper copies to the editor. Please include a SASE if you wish the manuscript with comments to be returned. Put your name and affiliation only on the title page; do not put any personal information on or in your article. Number pages, but do not include a header or footer with your name. If your article is accepted, please send us a copy on disk. Since egotistics is an online journal, we can only publish accepted articles if they are submitted on a (PC formatted) disk. Please do not submit articles by email.
3. Follow MLA guidelines (MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 4th ed.; MLA Style Manual 2nd ed.)--provide parenthetical references, endnotes, a works cited list. Note: please use italics where MLA says underline (titles of books, plays, etc.).
4. Double-space the paper copy and use 12 pt. font. To facilitate editing for publication on the web, please adhere to the following guidelines when you save your accepted article on disk:
- Save your file as .txt (text only).
- Remove all formatting except for tab stops and hard returns. Indicate italics using [i] and [/i] around the word or phrase to be italicized.
- Convert endnotes to text ("typewriter technology").
5. If you wish to include images, save them in .jpg format, and please make sure that the filenames correspond to the references in the text.
