EHS performs an environmental assessment of all potential gift or purchase properties as requested by the Office of Land Management. This assessment involves a visual inspection of all land and/or structures. Samples may be taken if environmental contamination is suspected. The property is searched for any evidence of underground tanks, chemicals waste, refuse disposal and other hazardous materials or situations. At the conclusion, a written report is prepared. Acceptance of the property may be recommended or an independent Phase II assessment may be advised. A Phase II assessment may be performed by a private environmental consultation company.
