The University of Alabama's respiratory protection program is managed through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. EHS provides training, fit testing and consultation regarding respirator selection and use. Respirators, cartridges and parts are sold by EHS at cost to other University areas. By use of this service departments may be assured of immediate availability of parts and cartridges and manufacturer consistency. EHS has a written respiratory protection program which may be used as a model for other departments.
