Purpose

To function as a support group to those whose spouses, fiance(e)s, or significant others are residents in the Tuscaloosa Family Practice Residency.

Mission Statement

The members of the RSA feel that one of our most important functions is to offer assistance to those who are new to the program.  We realize that as a group, our situation is unique in many ways and that we have the potential to serve as a resource to others who share a common experience.  We endeavor to offer opportunities of fellowship and to foster an open forum of communication for the betterment of the members of the alliance and of the residents in the Tuscaloosa Family Practice program.  We also recognize the importance of recruitment efforts in maintaining standards of excellence in the residency, and we currently contribute to the recruiting efforts of the Residency by coordinating and attending luncheons for the spouses of prospective residents.

Activities

  1. Monthly meetings.  RSA alternates lunch and evening meetings to reach out to members with different personal schedules.  Members and their spouses are invited to monthly meetings.
  2. Monthly newsletters provide information concerning minutes of the RSA meetings, upcoming events of the RSA and of the residency, and special topics of concern.
