Listed here are just some of the facts and benefits of our society. Please visit the Official Golden Key site for more information.
You're never alone in Golden Key. Our society includes 1.5 million lifetime members. There are over 300 active chapters at outstanding colleges and universities throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Golden Key has been in operation for 31 years.
Golden Key gives you a chance to help out your community in Tuscaloosa and surrounding areas, as well as nation-wide and beyond. We've recently helped out local groups such as the Girl Scouts, Skyland Elementary, the Head Start program, nursing home and hospice residents, West Alabama Animal Rescue, and Habitat for Humanity. Our chapter has also worked with Golden Key's national and international partners, such as America's Promise, Make a Difference Day, the Terry Fox Run, and the College Bound program. Beginning in 2003, Golden Key changed its service focus to include an education-based service project as its primary goal. In response, our chapter has planned several projects around education, that began with our work for the Head Start program.
Golden Key is the largest and most active international honor society! If you receive an invitation to join, you are among the top sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the country and around the world! Plus, once you have joined, you are a member for life!
You will be recognized for your scholastic achievements with the presentation of a personalized certificate at your chapter's reception honoring new members. Your guests are cordially invited, and top university administrators, faculty and community leaders will be in attendance.
You may also purchase honor cords, stoles, pins, and pendants for your graduation.
Golden Key chapters are student-run and involve students who share aspirations for high achievement and a better community. Valuable leadership experience can be gained by becoming a chapter officer, or you can have fun and build friendships by participating in social and service activities; however, all participation is voluntary. As a lifetime member, you are always invited to the Society's annual international convention and to regional conferences for additional personal development.
