Dear GSA members,
The
Graduate Student Association congratulates the winners of the 10th Annual GSA
Research Conference. The event was held in Ferguson Center on February 10,
2007, and 44 presenters competed to win one of the scholarships and plaques.
Each presenter was judged by 2 distinguished referees, based
on his or her presentation skills. The opening remarks were given by Graduate
School Dean Dr. David Francko and closing remarks by Dr. Kathleen
Cramer. Mr. Stephen Hill, a Ph.D. student from
Operations Management, won the grand prize of $250 and will receive the Best
Presenter Award with his presentation
called “The Location Routing Problem with Intermediate Storage Facilities:
Analysis and Application.” Mr. Vaibhav Vilas Nikam, a Ph.D. student
from Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Ms. Alexa S. Chilcutt from
Mass Communications were tied
for second place with their presentations called “Future of Power Generation:
Fuel Cells,” and “Damaged, Drunk, or Delayed: Organizational Impression
Management Tactics Employed by Southwest During a Season of ‘Airline,’ ”
respectively. Both of our second place winners will receive a plaque and $150
scholarship. Mr. John O. Hauptfleisch, a Ph.D. student
from the Chemistry Department, won the third place award with his
presentation called “The direct synthesis of trifluoronitromethane,
CF3NO2.” Mr. Hauptfleish will receive a plaque and $100 scholarship. The plaques will be presented to our
winners during Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week in April. All other presenters each received a
“Certificate of Attendance” during the event. For the presenters who were
unable to receive their certificates, they may obtain theirs from Office of
Student Affairs in Ferguson Center, Room 355. GSA congratulates this years winners,
again, and is hoping to see all other students' participation next year. |
