Tenure-track Position in Experimental Astroparticle Physics

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track position in experimental astroparticle physics at the rank of assistant professor.  The appointment will begin 16 August 2010.  In addition to faculty working in experimental and theoretical astroparticle physics, we have related research groups in theoretical particle physics, experimental particle physics and theoretical astrophysics.  More information about the department can be found on the department's website physics.ua.edu

The minimum qualifications for this position are a Ph.D. or equivalent, postdoctoral experience, scholarly publications, and experience with modern techniques in astroparticle physics.  Candidates for this position are expected to have an outstanding research record and exhibit potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  The successful candidate is expected to develop a high quality, externally funded research program, as well as teach and mentor at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

We will begin reviewing applications on 15 January 2010 and the review process will continue until the position is filled.  Applications should consist of a resume, including descriptions of the applicant's accomplishments, research interests, teaching credentials and teaching philosophy, as well as contact information for at least 3 references.  Applications should be submitted online at facultyjobs.ua.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=54524.  The University of Alabama is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer.  Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
