      Rain, like silver thread,
      Stitching grey sky to black ground
      In wet embroidery.

2nd Place: Mr. Daryl Baughman - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
      Summer Apples green,
      Guarded by the pasture bull;
      Little thieves running.

3rd Place: Mr. J. Sellers - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
      Solitary moon
      Vineyards deserted and bare--
      Ice gems on twig ends.

4th Place: Mr. Jerome Hoffman - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
      In ancient eyes dance
      Dew-bejeweled spiderwebs:
      Her most loved moments.

5th Place: Dr. Bill Gunther - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
      The ripple expands,
      Gradually moving away
      Like growing children.


Junior High and High School Category

      A chilled breeze calls out
      To the frost bitten flowers--
      Until Spring you wilt.

2nd Place: Mr. Heath Puckett - Pisgah, Alabama
      An old fishing hole:
      Ducks splash the murky water,
      Bluegill swim below.

3rd Place: Ms. Kristi Pugh - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
      A football is thrown
      Will someone dive to catch it?
      As the red leaves fall.

4th Place: Tyshun Nevith - Reform, Alabama
      Standing high above,
      The graceful pine tree looks down
      On climbing squirrels.

5th Place: Ms. Melissa Osbome - Pisgah, Alabama
      Emerald eyes closed
      Cats sleep in the noonday heat
      Through summer weather.

1st Place: Stacey Timmerman - Birmingham, Alabama
      Gentle arching whale
      Swims gracefully with her calf
      During the warm day.

2nd Place: Blakeley Winslow - Montgomery, Alabama
      Gleaming winter stars
      Pour their icy, frozen light
      Through nights dark curtain.

3rd Place: Miranda Wilemon - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
      Enigmatical
      Far away and peaked with snow
      The mountains watch me.

4th Place: Jamie Bankston - Bridgeport, Alabama
      Pretty red roses
      Like a setting sun at dusk
      Smooth as satin sheets.

5th Place: Stephanie Kay Lester - Athens, Alabama
      Magical pasture
      Pretty white ponys roaming
      Trampling on green grass.

      Ahead of our table
      Extends a lake that shines
      A dogwood tree blooms.

4th Place: Mrs. Satoko Seale - Moundville, Alabama
      Nostalgically,
      Daffodils are in bloom:
      Memories of my mother.

5th Place: Mrs. Miho Toi - Montgomery, Alabama
      The Doll's Festival
      Away from home;
      My daughters are standing in front of the display.
