      Eagle drifiting high
      Widespread wings seeking currents
      Of air to swim in.

3rd Place: Rebecca Dosch - Chiba, Japan
      Cold hands stuck inside
      My pockets -- a truck selling
      Baked sweet potatoes.

4th Place: Richard Fuller - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
      Tugging at my hand,
      The kite envies the swallow
      Its untethered flight.


Honorable Mention

      Wind-driven clouds from
      Castles in stormy spring skies
      Frogs play in puddles.

Junior High and High School Category

      Like snow on water
      Swans are silent and peaceful
      Upon the stillness.

      Winter has left us,
      The sharp grass chews through the snow
      Peeking -- eyes of green.

      Sun and heat beat down
      The Spanish Moss hanging low
      Southern pride is full.

      The wind breezes by,
      Somebody cries out to it;

      Bright, autumn colors
      Falling through the crisp, cool air
      A quilt on bare ground.

      Frog on lilypad
      Croaking loudly through the night
      Keeping me awake!

      Reading a good book
      Flipping, flapping in the breeze
      The pages plip-flop.

      Rainbow over me
      Let the rain know when to stop
      So I can go play.

      An evening day
      Is embraced by the trees,

      I flew on top of a dandelion
      And landed on the moon's surface

      On a crystal clear stream,
      Dancing cherry blossoms land.

      A sunrise on New Year's Day;
      It was freezing
      But I had to make a wish.
