God of Purification

Apollo is purifying Orestes, who is sitting on the altar of Delphi, looking peaceful and

cured from his madness, but still holding a sword.

Apollo holds a laurel branch, and a pig for the rites.

Artemis to the right watches the scene. To the left the

ghost of Clytem-nestra rises and tries to wake the Furies. A third Fury below, seems to have awakened from her lethargy. [krater, 390 B.C.]
