Special Research Interest Group (SRIG). Our
organization is open to all members of MENC: The National Association for
Music Education who are interested in
research related to Learning and Development
in music education. In addition to this
website, we communicate with our members
through email and our electronic newsletter.
The entire membership meets every two years at
the national conference of MENC to see
presentations of the cutting edge research
from scholars in the field and to discuss SRIG
operations.
The mission of the Learning and Development SRIG is to encourage, promote, and disseminate research and data based information concerning the development and/or maintenance of music skills and knowledge. Music skills are defined as those used in creating, performing, and/or listening to music at any age.
