1991 Toyota 4runner SR5
I have owned the 4runner since summer 2001 and I am the 3rd owner.
Engine: Stock 3.0 liter V6 EFI. Runs GREAT.
* no abnormal knocks or pings.
*warms up to operating temp fast but does not over heat at all.
* leaves no oil spots on the ground. after 3000 miles (oil change time) I get out less oil than I will put in, so I guess it burns up a little.
*I have drove this as a commute car to get me from home to college and back. I have put 60K in the existing 150K when i bought it. It passed an emmissions test last summer and I am very confident it will do the same now.
* oil changed every 3K along with all fluids checked and joints lubed
*18-19 mpg
I have installed
*new starter, altenator, battery, O2 sensor, harmonic balancer, steering gear box.
*new spark plugs last october along with wires and distibutor.
*I had the recall headgasket fixed along with new timing belt in 2002.
*I replaced the CV joints in 2001.
Mileage:212000.
The dials glow solid green or blue when lights are on.
ADD 4WD. Shifts easily in and out of 2WD, HI and Low 4WD
Transmission: 5 speed manual. Shifts great with no feel or sign of slipping.
Suspension: new shocks last summer, 2.5 coil lift in rear to rid it of the 4runner sag.
Body: Original Emerald Green Paint with gold trim. No rust on frame or body.
left front fender hit a tree branch. I tried fixing myself. close to same body color but had some cracking of the paint. Eggs from delinquinets took the gloss off a few points on the hood (could also use a good wash)
left rear bumper was dented by a friend
Exhaust: MagnaFlow cat-back, new catalytic converter in 2004
Tires and wheels: 31X10.5X15 BFG all terrains
Audio: Kenwood CD player along with 300w amp and homemade speakerbox with 12inch sub.
Interior: Tan interior. Dash has two cracks from age. carpet in good condition.
Tan Cloth good condition for age.
Tear on driver seat. seats otherwise look and feel great.
The heater works great in the winter and cold in the summer.
The AC system was changed from the R-12 to the R-134a coolant last summer. Now it blows nice cold air in the summer.
There is a separate passenger heater in the rear seats.
All windows, including rear and sunroof, roll up and down great.
*Sunroof seals with no leaks.
*Windshield has no cracks, just a ball- point-pen tip sized nick in the middle.
Misc: Black widow security alarm. A new remote is needed for operation ($35 from Blackwidow company)
Oil and other fluids changed religiuosly
*Ignition using the key does not work 100%*
toyota couldnt figure it out so I have remedied this situation by installing a push button to engage the starter. The button will only work and car will only start if the key is in the ignition, so you still have to have the key to start it.
It does start with the key sometimes, but incase it doesnt , i use the button.
It is ok to push the little red button;)
I am looking to Trade for an older 1984-89 4runner in similar condition (works and runs well). If interested email me at robb.morris@gmail.com
