U of A Spectrum Meeting Notes
Sunday June 24th 2007
Old Business:
- The clubs bank account is now fully in order
*those who ordered T-shirts earlier in the year will be ordered shortly
New Business:
- The Safe Zone Committee is now meeting once a week
*the UA Safe Zone Committee will be meeting with representatives from the
UAB Safe Zone to undergo a training session on Tuesday July 3rd
*the first training session for housing staff is to be held Monday July 9th: place and time have not yet been established
*next on the list to be trained include members of the Counseling Staff and Student Activities Committee
*also being included in Safe Zone training is a program named Safe Harbor focused on preventing violence against women
*there will be adds placed in various news papers and new stickers are to be given out at the next meeting
*a big Thank You to our Allies helping and supporting this project:
Women’s Resources, Student Counseling, and the Student Affairs Committee
- Volunteers are needed to speak at a Sexuality Class
*Dr. Nick Stinnet is hosting a discussion panel for his Human Sexuality class and has requested volunteers to come and share their experiences being openly Gay, Lesbian, Bi, or Transgender
*the discussion panel already has the required number of men, and is in special need of women who are willing to participate
*the discussion will be held on Saturday June 30th at 10:25am in Adams Hall room 316: doughnuts will be provided for participants

The Faculty Staff Group will be meeting Thursday June
28th at 4pm room 305 in the
- There will be a Graduate student resource fair on Saturday August 18th
*Spectrum will be signing up for a table to participate in this even on July 2nd
*more information is being gathered
- Spectrum will be participating in Week of Welcome Sunday August 19th
*the club will have an information table available to meet potential freshman club members
*general goals of the club will be to gather names and contact information as well as to distribute flyers containing club information such as scheduled meetings and events
*also available at the table will be information from the Safe Zone program with a list of trained Housing Staff and their contact information
*volunteers are still needed to man the table, and shifts can be arranged to fit scheduling difficulties.

- Wednesday June 27th marks the Anniversary of the Stone Wall Riots
*there will be a brown bag lunch that day at 1pm to commemorate the event

- Spectrum will be holding its next scheduled meeting on Sunday July the 8th
*location is undetermined at this time, but may be held at member Jenna Patterson’s lake house
