CJ 499 Directed Readings
A directed readings course allows a student to read and learn about a topic that we have not covered in our curriculum or from a course that has not been offered. It is an opportunity for a student to acquire a comprehensive grasp of a topic of interest to him or her. You should only choose to attempt CJ 499 if you have enough interest in a topic to do the work.
You begin by choosing a topic. You then approach a member of the faculty who has some expertise in this area. If he or she agrees to supervise your work, you develop a contract or agreement about the nature of your project and your finished project.
Please be aware that I am very demanding in this course. I expect A work and will not accept an inferior paper. On occasion, I will agree to supervise a course that a student is taking only because they need to earn three additional hours for a timely graduation; however, I still expect superior work.
