The University of Alabama does have a site license program for Minitab. The cost is currently $10 per copy. If you are a faculty of staff member and are interested in obtaining Minitab for your office computer, please contact Sherry Harvey at 348-9809.

The site license program does not include copies for home use or for students. However, Minitab is also available for purchase at the educational rate in the Supply Store. Please contact them for current pricing information.

Minitab Year 2000 information is available on the Minitab Year 2000 Page. This includes details on the date/time handling of Minitab Releases 11 and 12.

Minitab is available on bama.ua.edu! For information on using it, log onto bama and type the command:
man minitab

Please keep in mind that MINITAB data sets are system-specific. To move between operating systems, you must create a portable file:

MTB > SAVE 'NEWDATA';
SUBC> PORTABLE.

... will create a portable worksheet named newdata.mtp.

MTB > RETRIEVE 'NEWDATA';
SUBC> PORTABLE.

... will retrieve a portable worksheet. The portable file is ASCII, so remember to designate it as such during any FTP process you might do.
