About the Course

Class sections are small, 18-20 students, allowing for more individualized attention. This is a skills-based course in which sequential information + skills are learned and used.

Unlike a lecture-based course, missing a class or not being on time can have serious consequences in terms of the student being able to fully master the required skills for success in this course.

Students are required to be on time + present for each class. Students are also required to turn in assignments + projects on the specific date + time.

This class is restricted to students enrolled in either the Interior Design or Apparel Design program.

This course is about process: looking, thinking and creating. Through critique, discussion and assignments you will train your eye, your knowledge, and your hand to work together as a designer. You will build on your present design communication and literacy skills - expanding and honing them to support your individual relationship to the process of designing.

You will learn to define design as an active process rather than a passive outcome. You will discover + better understand your role in this process and will learn to apply, with ever greater efficiency and efficacy, your abilities as a designer.
