Magnolia Drive Extension - Parking Changes in Barnwell Area

Magnolia Drive Extension - Parking Changes in Barnwell Area Overview

Rose Administration Lot Parking Disruption on Saturday, September 10th

There will be two construction projects taking place at Rose Administration this Saturday, September 10th.

  • The first will involve an Alagasco project on the eastside of Rose Administration - Parking on the eastside will be inaccessible beginning Friday evening.  These spaces will be blocked to ensure availability for the Saturday project.
  • The second is the rescheduled boiler replacement that was originally scheduled in August.  The reserve lot will be inaccessible Saturday morning from daylight until roughly 10:00 a.m.  We will place the gate arms in the locked down position Friday evening to prevent overnight entry.

Parking will still be available in the front of Rose Administration as well as the parking on the west (Doster side) of Rose.  We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.  Both Construction Adminstration as well as our Facilities Department will work as quickly as possible to reopen these areas for your use.

Frequently Asked Questions and Corresponding Answers Regarding Faculty/Staff Registration

What’s new about parking registration?

  • It is not automatic. You must either register online or go to the Parking Services office at 103 Student Services Center.
  • Your payment can be payroll deducted for 12 months.
  • You can print a temporary permit while you wait on your actual permit to arrive via U.S. Mail.

What is the cost of the parking permits if I pay the one-time fee in August?

$150 perimeter

$205 regular faculty-staff

$450 reserve

$470 reserve (Rose Administration lot only)

Does this apply to those who have a handicapped permit?  How much will the handicapped permits be?  How do I get a handicapped permit?

Permits for people with disabilities are $150. If you do not have a handicapped permit for on-campus parking and you qualify for one, please call the Parking Services Office at 348-8391 and we will assist you.

What will my permit cost be if I decide to purchase a permit after August 31?

The cost of the permits will be reduced by 1/12 each month as the academic year progresses. For example, a new employee that starts work in February would pay 50% of the one-time fee that they would have paid in August, if they elect to pay the one-time fee or they can payroll deduct the remaining part of the one-time fee, monthly.

If I do not apply for a parking permit, will I automatically receive one?

No permits will be automatically assigned. All vehicles operated on The University of Alabama campus by students, faculty and staff between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Friday must properly display a current University of Alabama parking permit.  Non-permit vehicles may park in the Ferguson Deck, Campus Drive Deck and the North ten Hoor deck for a $5 per day fee. Vehicles parking in timed parking space for the specified time limit are not required to have a permit displayed.

So, there is no automatic renewal now?  Where do we go online to register?

No permits will be automatically assigned. Employees are encouraged to go online to register for a parking permit. Go to myBama and scroll

down to the red Auxiliary Services box. In that box, click the link that says “Register HERE for a Parking Permit” and follow the instructions.

If I pay in full online or in person, is it tax-deductible?

No, only payments made over the 12-month time period are pre-tax dollars.

After I register for a permit, how long will it take for me to receive the permit?

Actual permits should arrive via U.S. Mail within three to seven business days of registration.

Since registration begins Aug. 1, when do the new permits take effect?

Permits for 2011-2012 are effective Aug. 16, 2011, through Aug. 15, 2012.

What are the differences in the two reserve permits?

The more expensive of the two reserve permits is for the Rose Administration parking lot. The other permit is for all other reserve lots and

reserve decks on campus. All current reserve permit holders will have online priority registration for their reserve lot or deck.
