Unix
The University of Alabama's central academic computer is a SUN Solaris Enterprise server named bama.ua.edu. Every faculty, staff, and student of the University is eligible to get an account on this machine, which can be used for e-mail, Web publishing, and many other tasks, including programming and statistics. There are also other Unix machines in use on campus, including various Linux flavors.
