The authors demonstrate how responses to open-ended survey questions can be analyzed using a software package that supports content analysis (WordStat) and software that supports linguistic analysis. The authors discuss various ways to analyze data provided via these techniques, and they compare these techniques with more traditional, qualitative techniques for analyzing responses to open-ended questions.
